Atelier AVEDA: Making hair dreams come true
Hair has always been my favorite accessory. From beachy waves to smooth, silky locks, I’ve prided myself on being a stylist who can create the hair you wish you were born with, but sometimes there isn’t enough to work with. Then it happened...my wonderful introduction to Platinum Seamless Hair Extensions. Working with all types of hair extensions for over half my life, (and having had them myself) I have learned through many trials and tribulations what will work and what won’t. There always seems to be so much mystery surrounding hair extensions. So many questions--what would it be like to have that beautiful length, those vibrant strands…it’s hard not to be drawn into the world of hair attachments. Will they hurt? How long will they last? Are they damaging to my hair? Will they look fake? And of course the dreaded price quotes.
When Atelier hosted a certification class for Platinum Seamless, I think I was the first to sign up, and quickly realized how this amazing line really opened up a whole new world of extensions. Whether it’s length or thickness or both that our guests are looking for, it’s really exciting as a stylist to be able to make their hair dreams come true.
The magic began when I touched the 100% human hair. Silky, smooth and tangle free, the hair strip (called a weft) is attached by a silicone-based strip adhesive that is incredibly flexible and lies flat to your actual head shape, making them invisible to the eye and the touch. A sigh of relief to finally say goodbye to the clips, metal clamps, glue, beads, tape, braids and all other itchy and uncomfortable hair enhancements I’ve struggled with in the past. No more lying on little bumps or thick ropes of braided wefts. Available in both body wave and straight textures, Platinum Seamless offers flexibility and comfort to our salon guests. You no longer have to change your lifestyle or activities for your hair, your hair now changes for you.
Available in up to 20 inches of length and hundreds of different color combinations, Platinum Seamless is by far the most versatile extension line on the market.
Beginning with a relaxing shampoo, the hair is then blow dried and separated into customized sections. The attachment method is quick and painless. No more pulling or tension on your scalp or hair. I’ll place the hair weft at the base of the hair, making sure there is comfortable range of motion. Once all wefts are applied, the transformation begins by a complete customization haircut (complimentary with the extension service). The look of your new hair is now entirely in your hands. You‘ll have the freedom to use curling irons, crimpers, flat irons, hot rollers, round brushes or any other styling tools to expand your creativity at home. Coming into the salon for maintenance depends on your personal lifestyle and how you take care of your ‘new hair’. I see many of my extension guests for cut and color services between extension installations, and I always offer an adjustment if needed, free of charge. Once your own hair has grown out by a couple of inches, we’ll remove the old set of extensions and replace them with new adhesive, and new hair, if you wish. The only maintenance you’ll do at home is use a specific shampoo and conditioner that I’ll recommend to maintain the adhesive strip.
