Technically it’s still summer but it’s never too early to start prepping for all your college needs this fall. Best Buy currently has laptops designed specifically for students – starting as low as $699.99. These laptops have features students were asking for such as longer battery life, Microsoft Office Home & Student 2010 pre-installed, 12 of Webroot antivirus protection, backlit keyboard and so much more. Best Buy also has their Geek Squad Agents and Installers who are able to take the hassle out of your technology woes. They have the know-how and skills to set up, install or repair your computer, no matter where you bought your computer.
Then there is The Container Store who can help maximize your new dorm room or apartment. The Container Store has experts waiting to assist you and help figure out everything you may need. Below are a few tips from The Container Store Experts:
Clothes, shoes, handbags, accessories...college students have it all! Think vertically to maximize closet space. A rod doubler instantly creates twice the amount of hanging space. If it’s more space for storing folded clothes you need, add drawers or a hanging sweater bag to take full advantage of the vertical space.
Look to your walls and doors to store more than just posters. Grids and hook racks can provide much-needed storage space in every area of the dorm. To avoid being charged for damage to the walls, use 3M Command™ Adhesive Hooks to hang everything from a grid system to bulletin board.
Standard issue dorm rooms desks generally don’t provide a whole lot of storage space for books, notebooks and supplies you’ll need to have close by. The desk area has to be well-organized so that there’s plenty of room to study. An elfa File Cart fits neatly under your desk to organize notes and handouts. Two storage drawers offer spare room for reference materials and office supplies.
Chances are you’ll have to haul your laundry up and down several staircases over the course of your college career. It’s best to choose a laundry solution that is portable and comfortable to carry.
Whether you share a bath area with just a few or very many students, you don’t want to get stuck with a heap of wet towels. Hang them out to dry on an out-of-the-way over the door towel rack. You’ll also need to consider a shower caddy (be sure it has drain holes!) and a solution for storing cosmetics.
Look for every inch of available space and think creatively about how to use it. Look under the bed, over the door, on the walls, on the floor — wherever you can find a bit of open space.
