Borders Books Pick of the Month:  A Reliable Wife

Cozy Up By the Fire with A Reliable Wife

With all the wind and rain lately many of us are stuck indoors, creating the perfect opportunity to curl up on your couch with a cup of hot cocoa and a good book. The thunder and lightning pairs perfectly with an intriguing suspense novel, which is why, this month, Borders recommends A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick.

Set in a small town in the early 1900s, Goolrick spins the tale of Ralph Truitt, a lonely business man, looking for someone to share his life with. He places an advertisement in a Chicago newspaper asking for “a reliable wife” and, out of all the responses, selects a woman most dangerous for his health. Catherine Land comes with deception in mind as she plans to poison her new husband and inherit his fortune, but Ralph has other plans for this mysterious woman…

Don’t predict the end though, it was completely unexpected. Goolrick’s ability to surprise you and keep you turning the pages are what are making this the most talked about book at Borders.
