Fashion’s Passion for Fat Lashes
Like fashion, make-up trends come and go. One season it’s red lips, the next, it’s pale gloss. For the last few seasons, though, it’s been all about the lashes.
Mascara has become a national obsession and so has those eyelash conditioners that allegedly grow thick, lush fringes around our peepers.
But false eyelashes remain a special occasion application, partly because it’s so time consuming to apply and partly because it can be way too dramatic.
Taylor Pham of Thi Cosmetics, though, has created faux lashes that look natural and are easier to apply because the lashes come in tiny, pronged clusters that can be applied sparingly or layered for a more glamorous effect. They’re especially good for small eyes because the lashes aren’t super long or on a continuous strip. They’re lighter and easier to control this way.
A box of the lashes, good for several applications, is $15 and sold at Product in Santana Row. It’s also available online at thicosmetics.com and at Thi Make Up Studio in Palo Alto.
If you want to read more about Pham and her business partner, Mimi Tran Rickett, check out my story from Saturday, April 24, in the Mercury News, http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_12221005?nclick_check=1. They’re both from San Jose and created Thi Cosmetics for an underserved demographic: Asian women who were having a tough time finding colors, brushes and formulations that worked well on their facial features and complexions.
