Hair Color Trends for Fall

Even when winter temperatures dip down outside, the intensity of hair color this winter is going up!

A great way to bring back some color to our skin and bring the sunshine in, is with uplifting colors in our clothing, face, and hair.   Hair can be our best accessory—just see what happens to a fabulous outfit when your hair looks its best.

Need an idea to spark a change?  Fashion is a strong inspiration. For Winter 2010, I love seeing clothing in classy neutrals, soft cashmeres, and rich faux-furs, as well as precious metals and stones. Hair trends follow fashion, which means hair color is rich, warm, luxurious, lush and fabulously upscale, no matter if it’s 14-karat Golden blonde, Hot Paprika red, or a Mocha brunette.

The vivid hair color really compliments the softer fabrics of the season.

By infusing darker hair with delicious tones of toffee, nutmeg, cinnamon, or espresso, we see more than just brown hair, the intense shine and richness brings warmth to paler winter skin tones.

-Blondes will look best glossed or woven with honey, champagne, and buttery shades that give hair the gloss of healthy, well-maintained locks that sparkle.

-Redheads can be transformed from summer copper to deeper, more vibrant tones by adding multiple highlights of ruby, garnet, cayenne, or blended with cinnamon and caramel for more depth.  By carefully choosing a cool (blue-based) or warm (yellow-based) red for your skin tone, you can compliment your porcelain complexion or your own unique dusting of freckles.

And as always, deep condition hair weekly to combat indoor heat that rob hair of moisture and create static and fly-aways.

Fashion forecast:  Botanical is beautiful!  Skip the funky colors, high-contrast, and chunky panels this season.  Embrace the colors in nature by choosing colors we see around us: wood tones (Redwood, Chestnut), spices (Ginger, Cinnamon), and precious metals and stones (Gold, Ruby, Topaz). Ask for super shiny glosses that won’t change your natural color drastically but will give you amazing luster and shine. Never let your hair look faded or dull, it will ruin most expensive outfit. And my best advice--have an inspiring consultation with your hair artist about new options for your hair.

The best source of endorphins is to love the way you look!
