Your New Favorite Summer Cocktail
ST-GERMAIN, Elderflower Liqueur
“5 Star/Highest Recommendation”
“Superb clarity. A totally seductive bouquet of the first rank. The palate entry is soft, yet firm; flowery, yet neither oily nor cloying; by the midpalate point, the flavor profile offers an ideal taste experience that’s integrated, harmonious, and exquisitely balanced between alcohol level, sweetness, acidity, and floral impact. A perfect liqueur.”
- Paul Pacult
Spirit & Wine Journalist, Spirit Journal
I couldn’t have summed it up better myself, but still not sure if this is something you might enjoy? Well what sounds a bit more like a nice aromatic white wine is actually an All Natural, French liqueur that is made from hand picked Elderflower Blossoms, which truly is ‘a perfect liqueur.’ With roughly half the sugar as other liqueurs, it is optimal on a hot summer day and the harmonious, balanced flavors allow it to be extremely mixable. Whether you prefer the complexity of Tequila, the clean smoothness of Vodka or even the citrus and juniper notes in Gin, you will undoubtedly enjoy the unique nuances of this liqueur. Are you on the fence now? Then you should know that since its Debut less than 3 years ago it has won ‘Best in Show’ with a Double Gold Medal in 2007 & 2008 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition as well as been featured in articles written for the New York Times, Vanity Fair, The Wall Street Journal and even Oprah’s O!. So the next time you’re dining on the Row while basking in the hot California Sun make sure to look for this increasingly popular liqueur in what will soon be your new favorite cocktail!
Still skeptical?
I made the following cocktail for a few skeptical bar patrons, all men mind you, during this last heat spike and they loved it, so I thought I’d share!
‘The Sophisticated Mojito’
Although not a Mojito at all, that’s what it was dubbed so that’s what I’m callin it!
Ingredients Needed:
*St-Germain, Elderflower Liqueur of course
*Citron Vodka (I used Kettle but any will do)
*3-4 Pulled Mint Leaves and one Mint Floret for garnish
*1 Lemon
*Prosecco, Italian Sparkling Wine (Another one of my favorite Summer
Cocktail Mixers. Why? Because everything taste better with a lil bubbly!)
How To Make:
First
In a Shaker (or mixing glass) take your 3-4 Mint Leaves, a few ice cubes and fresh squeeze ¼ - ½ of your lemon (depending on size) then lightly muddle (if you don’t have a Muddler then smash/crush the ice & mint together using some type of rounded edge, like the tip of a spatula handle. The objective is to get a hint of mint so even just tearing the leaves into smaller piece’s and shaking a few times with the liquid should suffice.)
Second
Add 1 oz each of St-Germain and your Citron Vodka and lightly mix
Third
Pack an 8oz Rocks glass with Ice (My Skeptics were very adamant about NOT having it in a Red Wine Glass, my new favorite glass for cocktails! But by all means use the wine glass if so desired) then pour contents of Shaker into glass
Fourth
Top off with the Prosecco (equal to a heavy splash or quick pour)
Fifth
Garnish with your Mint Floret and a fresh cut Lemon Wheel (make from the other half f the lemon to minimize waste) and two swizzle straws
Lastly
Drink & Enjoy!!!
