Most people are aware that October is Nation Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast Cancer is an ongoing battle with many women today.  Many charities every October try their hardest to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention and cure.  There are many ways that each person can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.  You can raise awareness and funds by participating in many events, volunteering your time, make a monetary contribution or just even wearing the pink ribbon to show your support….

Ten years ago, when Santana Row was initially being built, a huge fire ripped through what is now the Santana Heights block. 11 fire alarms were dispatched and 221 fire fighters came to the scene. When the fire was finally squelched, Santana Row was devastated by $90 million worth in damages, but thankfully no deaths and few injuries. Without San Jose firefighters coming to the rescue, the damages would have been drastically higher. There was even the possibility of the gas station across the street catching fire, which would have cost this San Jose neighborhood many lives and millions more in damages. Santana Row has always been immensely grateful for the San Jose Fire Department and how they saved the property. To show our appreciation on this, the tenth anniversary of the event, some Santana Row stores and restaurants will be offering discounts to shoppers, while others will donate 10% of their proceeds to the San Jose Fire Department’s Public Education and Community Relations Trust. Come to the Row to get your shopping done and show your support for our local heroes this weekend, September 29th and 30th. Below is a list of all the specials that will be offered this weekend.
