Yankee Pier Recipe: You Like Tomayto… I Like Tomahto
BLOG ENTRY: The sun is shining, the air is still, it’s perfect weather for growing fruit. Yes, the long-withstanding argument over whether a tomato is a fruit or vegetable seems laughable now, considering that the tomato, whose more specific name is lycopersicum, means “wolf-peach.” Botanically, there can be no argument, as it is an ovary (with its seeds) of a flowering plant. Though not typically used in ‘sweet’ applications, the acidity can vary and many varieties of tomatoes can be considered so.

Yankee Pier: Tis the Season for Summer Squash
BLOG ENTRY: The English word squash is derived from a word from the Narrangansett language, akutasquash, which means a green thing eaten raw. Which although isnt always the case with squash, it is more so with the summer variety.
